MTV "Hottest" MC List

Let's just get this out of the way... I am a huge hip hop fan! Now you could imagine my excitement when MTV announced the top 10 hottest MCs for the past 12 months.

Now you might ask who MTV think they are but who they are is "The round table"! They decided to take prominent journalists and other figures of the MTV stable including executive producer of MTV News Sway Calloway, who was also caught up in the controversy, put them in the same room and compile a list of the 10 hottest MCs in the game based on certain criteria. 

Now this is huge for the rappers in the US because it’s a unique opportunity for them to be acknowledge publicly & on a global platform such as MTV but note I said "Hottest" MC instead of "Best" because the criteria of selection has been questioned for many years and this year was no different as the infamous list has yet again sparked controversy.

One MC was announced everyday on the MTV Show “Rap Fix Live” giving enough time for the headlines & opinions to simmer between each announcement & trust me when I say a lot of people had a lot to say about the list, who should be in it, who shouldn’t and who should be where on it.

Kanye West, Drake, Danny Brown & A$AP Rocky are some of the rappers who spoke out against the list and have even questioned its credibility but after the dust settled Kendrick Lamar was announced as the No. 1 hottest MC! Agree? Disagree? All I'm saying is I am loving all this news & hype around the genre I love because the entire world's eyes are now fixed on HIP HOP!

PS: Maybe MTV Base should try something like this in South Africa too; it would really make this interesting.
